AFL-CIO ‘It’s Better in a Union’ Bus Tour Hits Virginia for Rally with USW to Demand an End to Cuts

The AFL-CIO’s Fight Back Bus Tour rolled into Newport News, VA with a powerful stop at the USW Local 8888 Union Hall. A strong turnout of union members, veterans,and community supporters gathered to rally against growing attacks on veterans’ benefits and worker protections.

Speakers at the rally included USW Local 8888 President Charles Spivey, USW International Vice President at Large Roxanne Brown, Virginia AFL-CIO President Doris Crouse-Mays, and U.S. Representative Bobby Scott,all delivering messages about solidarity, justice, and the urgent need to defend hard-won rights.

As the tour continues, the bus now heads to Charlotte, North Carolina for a press conference at the NAACP Convention, carrying the fight forward for working families across the country.
