With the voice of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka in the background and the faces of all kinds of union members and their families featured, the AFL-CIO premiered an ad in the Washington, DC, media market urging others to “Join A Union.”
The 30-second spot comes in the wake of the overwhelming victory August 7 against anti-worker forces in Missouri to repel the Show-Me State’s right-to-work (for less) law – the first time such legislation has been defeated at the polls. In addition, more than 260,000 workers – three quarters of whom are 35 years old or younger – joined a union last year.
The ad is scheduled to be shown on several cable news outlets through Labor Day. It can be seen by clicking here.
