American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) National Secretary-Treasurer Eric Bunn Sr. is the newest member of the MTD Executive Board.
Bunn has been a union activist since joining the District of Columbia Department of Housing and Community Development more than 35 years ago. He rose through the ranks of AFGE Local 2725 to become its president.
Years later, he was elected to the AFGE National Executive Council as the District 14 National Vice President, where he represented district and federal government employees in the metropolitan Washington area as well as those working in Europe. He served three consecutive terms.
In April 2020, Bunn was elected the union’s National Secretary-Treasurer. He is the first local president from the District of Columbia to rise to the union’s second highest position.
Bunn serves on the board of the Maryland and DC State Labor Federation and the Metro Washington Labor Council. He also has worked with the Northern Virginia Labor Federation. He and his wife, Debra, are the proud parents of three children and five grandchildren.
“We welcome Brother Bunn to the MTD Executive Board,” said MTD President Michael Sacco. “We are very aware of the excellent work he has done representing his members in Washington and look forward to his serving with us.”
