The U.S. Senate confirmed Paul “Chip” Jaenichen as U.S. Maritime Administrator on July 15. He had been serving as acting administrator since June 2013 following the resignation of David Matsuda.
“Chip Jaenichen has been a real fighter for the U.S.-flag fleet,’ stated MTD President Michael Sacco. “He understands our industry’s needs. I am glad the Senate has confirmed him to lead the Maritime Administration.”
Prior to being appointed Deputy Administrator in July 2012, Jaenichen was a career U.S. Navy officer. He served 30 years and reached the rank of captain. The Kentucky native is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and has a masters in engineering management from Old Dominion University.
