Toledo Port Council Passes Resolution in Solidarity with UAW

The following resolution was passed unanimously at the last meeting of the Toledo Port Council:

WHEREAS the United Auto Workers have made concessions to the Big Three Auto Manufacturers, including but not limited to a two-tier wage scale, and;

WHEREAS Union solidarity is a community effort that calls upon all of organized labor to stand together, and;

WHEREAS the members of the United Auto Workers Local 12 at the Stellantis Jeep plant in Toledo, Ohio and the members of United Auto Workers Local 900 employed by Ford Motor Company, in Wayne, MI are taxpayers in the communities in which they live as well as having a positive economic impact to their local economy, and;

WHEREAS Stellantis, General Motors, and Ford Motor Company have yet to present a contract proposal that is acceptable to their represented UAW employees;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Toledo Port Council, Maritime Trades Department, AFL-CIO executive board committeemen and trustees representing 18 affiliated union Brothers and Sisters voted unanimously to offer our solidarity and moral support to our fellow union Brothers and Sisters with the United Auto Workers and call upon their employers to reach a just and equitable agreement as soon as possible.
